Comic Con Kolkata 2025: My Personal Diary

Dear Diary,
If someone had told me years ago that I would one day confidently walk into a hall full of strangers, strike up conversations, and feel completely at home, I wouldn’t have believed them.
But that’s precisely what happened at Comic Con Kolkata 2025! It was a place where fiction meets reality, and fans become family. And, as a multipassionate self, I had to go there.

The Highlights of My Visit:
Meeting Artists & Writers: Seeing local artists and comic creators display their work was inspiring. I even got my hands on a few limited-edition prints!
Panel Discussions: Industry experts and creators shared their insights into storytelling, world-building, and the future of comics in India.
Cosplay Extravaganza: From anime characters to Marvel and DC superheroes, the dedication and craftsmanship of cosplayers were next-level.
Merch Heaven: I may or may not have splurged on some fandom merch (okay, I definitely did!).
The Moment I Stepped In Comic Con Kolkata …
The energy was electric.
Trending music playing, volunteers welcoming you with positive energy, and so colorful vibe everywhere.
Comic Con happened in 'Biswa Bangla Mela Prangan'. As soon as I entered, I was welcomed by a world of brimming creativity. Cosplayers in stunningly detailed costumes, artists showcasing their breathtaking illustrations, and comic book enthusiasts discussing their favorite universes.

Confidence in every corner ...
What struck me the most was how confident everyone was in being themselves.
I saw standup comedians like Rohan Joshi and Sapan Verma cracking jokes effortlessly, interacting with us, asking this or that questions, and casually having fun in a crowd of thousands.
I saw cosplayers walked with pride in that red carpet, fully embodying their characters. Not only that, but I really liked how respectful the audience was while asking for a picture to the cosplayers. They see their characters coming alive, and it's okay to be excited, but not okay to force anything. But here, it was all respectful, and they walked with grace.
I saw the volunteers, mostly in their early 20s or late teen, assisting the audience. I love how confident they were in being themselves, in a blue uniform, and assisting us with a happy and energetic face. Even sellers at merchandise stalls welcomed visitors with an infectious enthusiasm. It was as if everyone had found their tribe -(multi-passionate), their space where they belonged.
A Personal Evolution ...
A few years ago, social interactions weren’t my strong suit. But Comic Con Kolkata showed me just how much I had grown.
I found myself striking up conversations with fellow fans, discussing everything from the latest anime releases to underrated graphic novels. I even shared laughs with people over nostalgic moments from our favorite shows.
In the Archie Comics stall, I met Bill Golliher, who drawn & written hundreds of stories for Archie Comics. He's been doing this for over 30 years.
Meeting him was a nostalgic experience and realizing that the comics I grew up reading were most likely drawn by him.
While signing my poster, he also drew a cute jug head hat on my poster, because of how I mentioned to him that I love jug head's character.
Indian Artists & Their Impact
One of the most important aspects of Comic Con was the presence of Indian artists.
Yali Dream Creations is one of India's top independent comic book publishers, known for blending Indian mythology, history, and futuristic themes with a global storytelling appeal.
Their comics often feature intense artwork, gripping narratives, and a dark, cinematic feel, making them stand out in the Indian comic book industry.
From indie comic creators to digital illustrators, these talented individuals are redefining storytelling in India.
Their work preserves Indian culture and mythology and introduces fresh narratives that resonate with modern audiences.
One of the most mesmerizing moments at Comic Con Kolkata was witnessing digital anime artists create live art on stage.
Supporting them means developing a creative ecosystem that will inspire future generations.
From meeting incredible artists to watching cosplayers own the stage, from nostalgic moments at the Archie Comics stall to discovering India's growing comic book industry, every moment was a reminder of why stories and fandoms matter.
